PUBG Mobile India's grand relaunch for the New Year has gotten stalled with the government officially stating that no permission has been given specifically to PUBG for a re-entry back into India. PUBG Mobile and 118 Chinese apps were banned in September and despite registering in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website, MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) has not given the permission for PUBG Mobile to come back in the country. However, a new update seems to suggest that the relaunch of the game soon is being planned behind the scenes and in a quiet manner. Unlike the previous time when PUBG Mobile India made grand announcements and teasers in November, this new update is good news for PUBG Mobile India.

According to an Inside Sport report, Krafton Inc has added more people to the team. The team now includes Akash Jumde who has been appointed as the Visual Content Designer, Piyush Agarwal as the Finance Manager, Arpita Priyadarshini is the Senior Community Manager and Karan Pathak is appointed as the Senior Esports Manager. These new appointments come after Aneesh Aravind was appointed as the country manager on Tuesday. These new appointments seem to suggest that PUBG Mobile India is working behind the scenes to ensure that the launch of the game is not delayed too long, with FAU-G (Fearless and United Guards) set to be launched soon.
Big money still on PUBG Mobile?
The ban in the Indian market in September 2020 has not dented PUBG Mobile as it became the top mobile game worldwide in terms of revenue in 2020. According to Sensor Tower, a data firm that tracks the revenue of gaming, PUBG Mobile generated USD 2.6 billion in 2020. PUBG Mobile, combined with the Chinese localisation of the title, Game For Peace, became the No. 1 revenue-generator globally across the App Store and Google Play in 2020 and it is up by 64 percent as compared to 2019.
According to one official in the government, PUBG Mobile India had tried to create a base for a mega-launch around the year-end but such is the situation that it will not be possible before March 2021. PUBG Mobile Corporation has been trying to have a meeting with MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) for the last four weeks but there has been absolutely no progress on the matter. However, the meeting might not even be granted due to the government protocols regarding this matter.
The government has collectively banned the Chinese app operations in the country. According to the stated policy, the Government will not treat anyone differently or give special favours and meeting a banned entity individually goes against the norms of the administration. This has a clear message: PUBG Mobile India will NOT get any special status. The second and main reason is that there is still a lot of anti-China sentiment in the country. The Galwan Valley tensions have still not simmered. When all the 118 apps, including PUBG Mobile India were banned, the main reason given was that these apps compromise national security. When that factor is weighed, it seems very unlikely that PUBG Mobile India will get a special preference.

What's New:
- New Erangel: Erangel map will be revamped with enhanced graphics, effects, and textures, along with the addition of new elements. All the famous landmarks, including Mylta Power, Quarry, Prison, will be completely redesigned.
- New Firearm (M1014): It is a semi-automatic shotgun that can load up to 7 rounds and can be equipped with Shotgun Muzzle or Bullet Loop attachments. It will only be available in Livik on the Classic Battle Royale Map and Arena.
- Livik Improvements: Visual effects, including textures and details, will be improved with some stage balancing adjustments and bug fixes.
- Beyond A.C.E.-Themed Gameplay: It will be a limited-time event and will be played on the Erangel map. Energy Towers will be added to this mode, and players will be able to redeem supplies from these towers by meeting certain conditions.
- Payload 2.0: Payload Mode will be back with all new armed helicopter, Super Weapon Crates, and advanced communication towers. New armed UAZ, Dacia, Buggy, and Pickup will be added along with new AT4-A laser-guided missile and M202 four-barreled rocket launcher. New items, including UAV controller, man-portable radar, and bomb suit, will also be added.
- Halloween Infection Mode: Halloween Themed Infection Mode will be available from October 23, 2020 where the zombies will be wearing Halloween masks with new atmospheric decorations, including jack-o'-lanterns, gravestones, and candles.
Improvements:
- Fully upgraded technology solutions will be fully upgraded, and penalty strategy will be added to target the newest plug-ins/cheaters.
- Skin textures and facial details for players' character models will be improved.
- Most cellphone models will start supporting 90 FPS.
